Unemployment Rate for Veterans Drops
The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released a report this month that
shows a significant decline in unemployment for all veterans —
from 8.3 percent in 2011 to 7.0 percent in 2012.
The unemployment rate for veterans who served on active duty at any time since 9/11 also declined — from 12.1 percent in 2011 to 9.9 percent in 2012. The BLS refers to this group of veterans as “Gulf War-era II” veterans.
Employers interested in hiring veterans can read this HRWatchdog blog for information on becoming a “veteran-friendly employer.”
