Honor Our Veterans
Military veterans may face many challenges making the transition back into civilian life – including challenges in the job market. The jobless rate for Iraq War-era veterans was 10 percent in October, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
To help employer partners connect with veteran job seekers, CalVet lists employers who are actively recruiting veteran employees. Business owners may be eligible for thousands of dollars in state and federal tax benefits and other incentives for hiring qualified veterans.
CalVet also recently announced the launch of its new Vets 101 website. According to CalVet, this interactive site is intended “to help veterans understand and utilize the variety of benefits and supports available to them. The Employment tab provides veterans quick access to many job-related programs and benefits, along with tools they need for decision-making and achieving financial and professional success after their military service.”
Vets 101 is operated by the World Institute on Disability and is supported and sponsored by the Governor’s Interagency Council on Veterans, including the CalVet, EDD, California Department of Rehabilitation, and the California Health Incentives, Improvement Project.
